Pol Pot 1928- 1995 Cambodian Politician The despot Pol Pot seized control of Cambodia in 1975 after leading the Khmer Rouge guerrillas for many years. After assuming power, he was responsible for the massacre of hundreds of thousands, and perhaps millions, of his countrymen.
