The year 1920 marked the occurrence of the first Arab riots conducted with a clear political goal. The goal was to pressure the San Remo Conference which was deciding the fate of Palestine. The riots were designed to show that the Arabs would not accept a Jewish homeland in Palestine. The riots had very little impact on the statesmen meeting in Italy, as it was decided to incorporate the Balfour Declaration into the peace treaty with Turkey.
