In 1964 Israel completed a national water carrier to convey water from the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) to the Coastal Plain. |

The National Water Carrier begins at the Lake of Galilee (the Kinneret). Pumps move water 500 feet above the lake, as a series of conduits, tunnels and pipes take the water north of Tel Aviv. From there it flows through other pipelines south to the Negev. |
