| British politician Ernest Bevin started his career in politics as an official of the Docker's Union. From 1922 until 1940, he served as General Secretary of the Transport and General Worker's Union. In 1940, he entered the war cabinet as Labor Secretary. From 1945 until 1951, Bevin served as Foreign Secretary in the Attlee government.
