April 11-18 Events in Iraq and the 9/11 commission hearings continued to dominate events thus often drowning out the campaign. President Bush held a Press Conference in which he strongly defended his policies. His opening remarks were considered very strong while his performance in the question and answer session was considered by many observers as weaker.
