Merchants Exchange St. Louis, Missouri

June 22 to 24, 1880

Nominated:Winfield S Hancock, for President
Nominated: William English of Indiana for Vice President
Despite Tildens near victory in the disputed election of 1876 he was forced to stand down as the leader of the party due to the many allegation of manipulation of votes during that election. The convention opened with a large field of candidates. By the second ballot however, the convention voted to nominate General Winfield Hancock.
