July 16- 20, 1984
Nominated: Walter Mondale of Minn for President
Nominated: Geraldine Ferraro of New York for Vice President
When the Democrats opened their convnetion in San Franciso all of the talk at the convention was on Muskie's selection of Geraldin Ferraro, the first woman on a major ticket. Muskie was nominated on the first ballot. The greatest stir at the convention occurred when Muskie states that both he and Reagan would have to raise taxes due the rising deficit.
